Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about youth exchanges and our projects.
Youth Exchanges give groups of young people from different countries the chance to come together and learn about each other’s cultures. Groups plan the exchange together around a topic of mutual interest; you can join projects abroad or take part in international projects at home. Participants are aged 13-30, with no age limit for group leaders. The main activity lasts between 5 and 21 days excluding travel days, and each group must have at least 4 participants besides the group leader.
This activity supports the training of people active in youth work and youth organisations, the exchange of experience, expertise and good practices, and the creation of long-term quality projects, partnerships and networks. There is no age limit; the main activity lasts between 2 days and 2 months, excluding travel days.
You do not need good English to join a youth exchange; the aim is intercultural encounter and working on shared interests — it even helps you improve your English. For mobility of youth workers (international training), however, a good level of English is required, as understanding the content of the training matters for you and your organisation. Each project also has its own requirements, shared together with the call for participants.
You do not pay anything to take part. Since Erasmus+ projects are funded by a European Union grant, your travel, accommodation, food and visa costs are covered by the project budget. A fixed travel budget is allocated per country; participants usually pay their travel costs upfront and are reimbursed during the project or within 1-2 months afterwards. If you stay extra days beyond the project, those costs are your own.
To hear about our international trainings and youth exchanges, follow us on social media. Our team regularly shares calls for participants on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
First, follow our social media accounts so you do not miss the calls for participants. Each call includes the topic, aims, participant profile and application form. If the project suits you, just fill in the application form. The application form is the only basis for our selections, so the motivation you write matters to us. Applications from candidates who send only a CV instead of the form are not considered.
No, you do not need to be a member to apply to our projects. However, there are volunteer activities you are expected to carry out during and after the project; you can find the details on our Volunteer page.
